Provides administrative support for Shipping and Receiving Department. Manages the requirements of the export and intermodal containers. Assigns equipment to orders and communicates with drayage companies via order spreadsheets reflecting “ready for pick-up” by last receiving dates. Reviews product inventory availability for all domestic and export orders. Communicates with customer service and production scheduling concerning inventory shortages and special requirements/handling. Creates transfer orders for shipments and addresses T.O. issues with shipping drivers. Assembles shipping packets containing loading chart, delivery note and required packing lists. Contact transportation companies for “customer pick-up” orders. Reviews packaging material usage using appropriate reports, generating inventory cycle-count sheets, as required.
Maintains availability of export and intermodal containers.
Communicates requirements to all drayage companies providing information of needed equipment, assigned equipment and “ready for pick-up” dates.
Maintains and relays spreadsheets for intermodal load status to drayage companies and Sunsweet logistics planning group.
Maintains and relays spreadsheets for export load status to drayage companies and Sunsweet customer service group.
Verifies product availability for all outbound shipments prior to scheduled load date - communicates shortages to production scheduling and customer service.
Prepares statistical and written reports.
Uses MS Word, Excel and Power-point.
Proficient at analytical functions for completing product/material code trace, inventory movement research for completing variance root cause analysis.
Review and analyze packaging material usage using existing SAP reports - generating cycle count requirements and communicate reflected high usage items to the production department.
Coordinate inventory control issues with other departments and work to maintain a strong inter-departmental team to support overall operations as well as shipping and receiving.
Continue to expand knowledge of shipping, receiving and inventory concepts and software capabilities in SAP and related software.
High school diploma minimum, two year or four year degree in business or logistics area desired.
1-2 years experience in a capacity as a shipping and receiving clerk/administrator /supervisor in a food processing or manufacturing environment, and 1-2 years experience in inventory control and reporting.
Ability and willingness to work any shift. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Expertise in working with inventory control and business/logistics support software, such as SAP. Intermediate skill level with a personal computer and in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint and advanced expertise in Excel spreadsheet software. Familiarity with email programs such as GroupWise. Limited travel required.
