Overview

The Packing Materials Buyer is responsible for insuring materials are ordered timely, delivered on time, at prices that are competitive, while operating under required controls.

 

Responsibilities

PACKAGING MATERIALS:     

                                                             

  • Reviews weekly and monthly MRP in SAP to determine appropriate EOQ.
  • Outputs reports from SAP and sends forecast information to our selected suppliers.
  • Uses SAP to release requisitions, creates formal PO’s and communicates to our suppliers.
  • Confirms with the vendor and coordinates delivery time.
  • Reviews necessary reports from SAP to determine component shortages, ensures materials are delivered on time, and follows up with materials that are not delivered.
  • Coordinates with the production scheduler material availability issues.
  • Sets up new materials in SAP and communicate with suppliers.
  • Reviews PDF files to ensure that packaging materials are properly labeled.
  • Coordinate new materials with the planner/schedule making sure that the new items are added to the Bills of Materials.
  • Negotiates best price for Sunsweet as time allows.
  • Tracks savings through use of Excel.

PURCHASING ADMINISTRATION:   

                                                    

  • Assures proper documentation and controls are followed when processing orders.
  • Communicates with accounts payable to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Resolves issues surrounding goods receipts and invoice receipts.
  • Documents and reports savings and cost avoidance.
  • Works with suppliers on resolving the packaging material holds.
  • Requests information from suppliers in regards to Food Safety Modernization Act.
  • Requests information from suppliers in regards to Allergen Safety.
  • Requests and maintains packaging material specifications.
  • Meets with suppliers regularly to determine new potential suppliers, outline current processes, improve on existing processes.
  • Meets with new suppliers to discover new possible competitive advantages that may exist.
  • Uses D&B to asses supplier’s risk assessment.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Must have experience with SAP
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Must be able to analyze data
  • BS Degree
  • Must be able to speak and read Spanish
