Sunsweet's Quality Control Department is seeking an Intern for the 2018 summer.
50% - Assist in updating current food safety programs to maintain compliance with the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act. Programs include: Procurement, Recall Plan, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Plan, and HARPC (Hazard Analysis Risk Preventive Controls) Plan among others.
30% - Learn aspects of food safety auditing at the manufacturing and dryer levels.
10% - Learn testing methods in the dried fruit laboratory which includes moisture, preservative quantification, and sensory.
10% - Assist quality control lab assistants on various processing lines.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
The employee in this position must be able to work in an office environment using standard office equipment including a computer, a laboratory environment, and a production environment in a high humidity. May require the use of personal protection equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, earplugs, bump caps, and smocks. Employee will be working first shift for 8 hours with varying start times depending on the job function.
